Our Story

Meet Mike, the Inventor of NuNee

As an active adult and triathlete I was desperate to find relief from chronic knee pain.

I had been suffering for over 5 years from a condition called patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), also known as "Runner's Knee”. It causes your knee to ache and burn during activity. It also causes stiffness after sitting for long periods or sleeping.

X-rays revealed my patella (knee cap) was no longer able to track properly because the space between my patella and femur (thigh bone) had deteriorated. There are many causes including normal "wear and tear", over use, and musculoskeletal imbalances. All can eventually lead to debilitating arthritis.

My attempts to relieve my chronic pain included several OTC knee supports, taping, physical therapy, and a visit to an orthopedic knee specialist. None were successful at providing lasting and effective relief.

Finally, after years of suffering, I decided to apply my engineering skills to design a device specifically intended to address the underlying cause of my condition. My research revealed that if you relieve the pressure you will relieve the pain. The result was, NuNee, a patent pending device that relieves the pressure on the underside of your patella. It’s function is unique to any other knee support available on the market.

Since I began using NuNee I am able to ride, run, and live knee pain free for the first time in many years. That's me in the photo while competing at Ironman Lake Placid. Look carefully, I was wearing the first NuNee prototypes.

Today, my mission is help others suffering from PFPS. I am happy to report that NuNee is helping active people from coast-to-coast. From elites to amateurs and adolescents to seniors, NuNee is helping runners run again, jumpers jump again, and active people return to the active lifestyle they enjoy.

I welcome you to join our NuNee family.
